Filipino Catholic Band launches album dedicated to Christmas

The Catholic Filipino musical group Bukas Palad Music Ministry is launching a new album focused on Christmas songs and carols.  26 years after the first collection dedicated to the festive seaon, "Behold the Child"  will be released in the coming days, a compilation which through 12 covers and 9 original songs recounts the birth of Jesus.

Their music - more than a hundred pieces in liturgical background - puts various passages of the Bible to music and their most popular songs are often interpreted during Mass, such as the local version of the Glory be to God and the Lamb of God

In presenting the event , which was published on their Facebook page , the group points out that " the Christmas story is intertwined in a mixture of songs in English and Filipino , using a wide range of different musical genres ." And they add that "these songs reflect the characters and events that mark the birth of Jesus."

The launch of the new album - with a preview of some songs on their website - and the songbook of the Bukas Palad Music Ministry will coincide with a concert, scheduled on October 12, at 7 pm, in the courtyard of the Ateneo de Manila High School. For the occasion, the band will hold a free concert open to the public. For more information please visit the website at www.bukaspalad.com .
