Nigeria: Call for Removal of Benin Catholic Archbishop Condemned

http://cdn.informationnigeria.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/arch_bishop.jpgMEMBERS of the Knighthood Order of St Paul (KSP) in the Benin Catholic Archdiocese, Saturday, condemned the call for the removal of the Catholic , describing the call as ungodly and a taboo in the church.

Speaking when they paid a courtesy visit to Akubueze, the Grand Knight of KSP, Dr Rufus Ikharebhore, alleged that some priests could have been giving tacit support to those alleging ethnic agenda in the church because, according to him, "some of the agitators were not members of the Catholic Church but they quoted passages of Christus Dominus Pastoral Constitution of the Office of the Bishop".

This, he said, clearly confirmed that some few priests were involved in undermining communion within the archdiocese.

He noted that the Catholic Church had over the years, fought against intervention in its processes by secular powers but "it is a tragedy that the few priests within our archdiocese invited secular powers not of our confession, but of doubtful Christian confession to intervene in the matter and possible transfer of the Chief Shepherd, the Metropolitan See of Benin City".
