Church desecrated in Central African Republic

In Central African Republic's anarchic provinces, rebels accused of massacres in villagesMembers of Seleka, the Islamist rebel movement that seized power in the Central African Republic in March, desecrated a church, looted a rectory and convent, and burned down huts used for religious instruction, the Fides news agency reported. 

The incidents took place in Bohong, a rural town in the western part of the nation, after local hunters killed a Seleka colonel. 

Some young local Muslims joined in the violence.
