7 Essential Catholic Apps

Here is a list of 7 great apps for Catholics. Most of them are available on multiple platforms and devices. 

Here are the descriptions provided by their respective publishers and a link to download each. 

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, and there are many more great Catholic Apps out there!

1. Divine Office

Divine-Office Designed to be very simple to use, this audio version of the Liturgy of the Hours includes scripture readings, psalms and prayers for several times (hours) of each day. 

The Divine Office App is an opportunity for you to participate in the recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, an ancient and meditative collection of psalms, hymns and scripture that represent the public prayer of the Christian community.

2. iMissal Catholic (Mass Reading, Calendar, Lectionary)

3. Confession: A Roman Catholic App

With a personalized examination of conscience for each user, password protected profiles, and a step-by-step guide to the sacrament, this app invites Catholics to prayerfully prepare for and participate in the Rite of Penance.

The text of this app was developed in collaboration with Rev. Thomas G. Weinandy, OFM, Executive Director of the Secretariat for Doctrine and Pastoral Practices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Rev. Daniel Scheidt, pastor of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. 

The app received an imprimatur from Bishop Kevin C. Rhodes of the Diocese of Fort Wayne ‚Äì South Bend. 

It is the first known imprimatur to be given for an iPhone/iPad app.

4. The Pope App

It will also give you access to all official papal-related content in a variety of formats: news and official speeches, galleries with the latest images and videos, access to his calendar, and links to other services of the Holy See.

Additionally, the app will let you see key areas of the Vatican through webcams distributed throughout St. Peter’s Square that are always broadcasting images.

The app also provides the text of the Mass of the day according to the 1962 Missal, making it useful as a missal for the participation at Mass.
