St. Augustin Catholic Church has dropped its lawsuit against the City of
Des Moines and plans to accept proposals from people interested in
moving two houses from its property.
St. Augustin attorney Bill
Lillis said that representatives of the church will outline for the City
Council their time frame for accepting proposals to have the houses
moved.
The lawsuit against the city was dismissed Thursday. It
was filed in Polk County District Court on June 3 and asked that the
city be required to immediately issue demolition permits for houses on
the city's west side.
Some neighbors have questioned how the
properties will be used, because the North of Grand neighborhood has
been designated by the National Register of Historic Places.
