“Some important clues have been finally found. I don’t want to reveal anything about the accused now,” a senior officer said according to a report in Indian Express.

The probe has been expedited after the recent visit of city police commissioner Raghavendra H Auradkar to St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary at Malleswaram where the 62-year-old rector was found killed on April 1.

Auradkar told The New Indian Express that the probe team was approaching the case from various angles.

“We have questioned more than 40 people, some of whom could be directly involved with the rector’s murder. We can safely say that the investigation has found a breakthrough and the case will be solved soon,” he said.

Two days ago, the commissioner and the probe team visited Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore.

“During our interaction, the police expressed the hope of solving the case soon. However, they did not reveal the motive behind the murder. The rector’s family is waiting to know why the rector met his tragic fate,” Archbishop Moras said.
