Couples offered a ‘Camino of Romance’

For those looking for an unusual honeymoon destination or somewhere different to celebrate a wedding anniversary or renewal of vows, a new package is offering couples a romantic journey along the Camino de Santiago.

The ‘Camino Romantico’ transforms the last 100km of the Camino de Santiago in Spain, going from Sarria to Santiago de Compostella, into a romantic adventure offering rooms in the most beautiful hotels on the Camino with some added pampering and touches of romance.

Follow The Camino, a world-wide leading tour operator founded in 2006 in Dublin, specialises in organising walking, cycling and horse riding holidays along the Camino de Santiago.

They have invented a new approach to this ancestral pilgrimage, respecting its spirit and enhancing its values, while making it more accessible, enjoyable and achievable for all.

“The Camino Romantico is for couples who want to do something different,” said Nellie Meunier, from Follow the Camino. “Each package offers luggage transfers, maps, romantic dinners and the best rooms in the most romantic hotels on the Camino. One charming guesthouse has been in same family for 500 years and they prepare dinner for you using produce they have grown themselves. There are other little surprises and special touches such as candle-lit dinners, breakfast in bed and massages.”

A young couple from Singapore chose the Camino Romantico last year because they wanted a once-in-a-lifetime experience for their honeymoon.

“This walk is something we will remember for the rest of our lives because the five days we spent on the road, with only each other for company, really bonded us together. It allowed us to strengthen our trust and love for each other,” they said.

“We highly recommend it to couples who are looking for a unique honeymoon experience that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.”

The Camino Romantico includes seven nights’ accommodation, breakfast and dinner, luggage transfers, a daily surprise such as rose petals on your bed.
