Attention is turning to Joseph Ratzinger's replacement after the 85 year old pontiff announced his retirement yesterday and a successor is expected to be appointed by Easter.

Killaloe Bishop Kieran O'Reilly  - who was formerly the Superior General of the Society of African Missionaries - worked previously with a number of cardinals who could be in line for the job of Pope, including Peter Turkson from Ghana, and Robert Sara- from Guinea.

Asked about speculation that a black Pope may be elected  Bishop O'Reilly told Clare FM's it's a real possibility.
