Cathedral transformed by 30,000 flowers

Manchester Cathedral celebrated the summer in style last month with the help of more than 30,000 flowers.

It hosted a flower festival over six days in July as part of Dig the City - Manchester's first urban garden festival.

The spectacular displays were put up around the cathedral by 400 flower arrangers from across the diocese.

The cathedral welcomed hundreds of people through its doors for the festival.

The displays depicted the theme of music, and this was mirrored with some lunchtime recitals, and an evening concert.

Funds raised by the festival have gone towards the Manchester Cathedral Development Project.
