Earthquake, Pope feels moved 'Jesus also under the rubble'

Pope Benedict XVI waves as he leads the Angelus prayer from the window of his private apartment at the VaticanPope Benedict XVI today recalled "with emotion" the population of northern Italy hit by earthquake. 

He spoke of the people effected this week by the "recent earthquake" sending a particular thought "to the numerous churches which have been severely damaged" and underlining the fact that "The Eucharistic Body of Christ, in the tabernacles, has also remained in certain cases under the rubble". 

"With affection," the Pope said before the Angelus prayer which he lead for the over 50 thousand worshippers present today in St. Peter's Square, "I pray for the communities which, with their parish priests, have had to meet out in the open or in large tents. I thank them for their testimony and for how much they are doing for the entire population." . .
