EU representative to the Holy See is a woman

Last Tuesday the Pope received Laurence Argimon-Pistre, the head of the EU delegation to the Holy See, in an audience for the presentation of her Letters of Credence. 

The French diplomat is the new ambassador of the European Union to the Holy See.

Born in La Clusaz (in the Haute-Savoie) 59 years ago, the new EU ambassador to the Holy See is married with three children.

A part from French she also speaks English, Spanish, German, Italian and Portuguese. After graduating with a degree in Law from the University of Grenoble, she worked as a legal assistant studying European Union law cases at Linklater's & Paines’ law firm in Brussels (1976-1978).

She was also Professor of Politics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona as well as being in charge of courses and seminars at the Jean Monet Institute and at the University of Barcelona (1991-1995). 

As a European Commission official, she worked in the field of trade policy and then became head of the India, Nepal and Bhutan Unit (2000-2005), head of the Mercosur-Chile Unit (2005-2007) and finally, EU ambassador to the OECD and UNESCO in Paris (2007-2012).
