Vatican Delegation to Arrive in Cuba

A Vatican delegation is scheduled arrive in Cuba on Friday to monitor the preparations for the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in March 26-28.

As reported by the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the representation is headed by Dr. Alberto Garrasbi, head of papal travel arrangements worldwide.

In December 2011, Benedict XVI confirmed a trip to Mexico and Cuba, which will be his second visit to Latin America after his stay in Brazil in 2007, during the V Latin American Episcopal Conference.

The papal visit will coincide with the Jubilee Year in Cuba for the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the image of Our Lady of Charity (la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre), patron saint of the nation.
