Benedict XVI the most popular "foreigner" in the States

The special classification created by USA Today and re-launched in Italy by the popular blog of the friends of Pope Ratzinger.

The list drawn up by the U.S. newspaper USA Today, in conjunction with Gallup Poll, Benedict XVI, with eighth place, is the most popular foreign figure among Americans.

In first position is Obama, who replaced former President George W. Bush, number one in this particular classification since 2008.

Another former president, Bill Clinton, is in third position, just before the person most frequently mentioned in the history of the survey - the Reverend Killy Graham.

The 93 year old evangelical pastor has always been on the list of those classified since Gallup sponsored the survey.

Followed, before the Pope, by Warren Buffett, Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump.  Behind the Pope there is the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, and the “prophet” of the Mormon Church, Thomas Monson.

Also in the poll of the most admired women, the ranking order is as follows: Hilary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Sarah Pallin, Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Ellen DeGeneres and the inevitable and ever-present Queen Elizabeth II of England.
