Russian Patriarch notes warming relations between Orthodox, Catholic Churches

At a meeting between the head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill and the head of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Moscow Paolo Pezzi, the Patriarch said that recently, there has been an obvious warming of relations between Orthodox Christians and Roman Catholics in Russia.

“There was some tension between the two Churches in the 1990s,” His Holiness Kirill said, “but later, it was overcome, thanks to the efforts of both Orthodox and Catholic Cristians. Now, the relations between the two Churches can be described as peaceful cooperation. Both Churches are doing a lot to strengthen Christian values in Russia.”
