WYD: The cross will go from Madrid to Rio

Benedict XVI celebrated with 750 bishops and priests from around 14 thousand too from all over the world, a very impressive sight, including liturgical vestments and white and you know two million young people. 

Among the biblical readings and prayers, were used in addition to Spanish Italian, French, Chinese, Arabic, Polish and German

"I am pleased to announce that the venue of the next World Youth Day in 2013, Rio de Janeiro will be", as announced by Vatican Insider on June 23 last year. 

With these words, Benedict XVI made an appointment to two million overseas students present today at the concluding Mass of World Youth Day in Madrid.

"We ask the Lord - has added Papa Ratzinger - who for the moment with his power to assist those who have to organize it and pave the way for young people around the world so they can meet again with the Pope in this beautiful Brazilian city.

Dear friends, before leaving, and while the young people of Spain to deliver those of Brazil, the World Youth Day Cross, as the successor of Peter, I commend to all present this great task: to bring the knowledge and love of Christ to all the world. He wants you to be his apostles and messengers of the twenty-first century in his joy.
