ARCHBISHOP of Dublin Diarmuid Martin on St Patricks Day praised the energy of Taoiseach Enda Kenny in launching "a democratic revolution" to restore the economy and credibility of the political system.
He made his comments after presiding at the St Patrick's Day Mass in Dublin's Pro-Cathedral, which was attended by President Mary McAleese and her husband Martin.
At
the Mass, which was celebrated in Irish by Fr Frank Herron, Archbishop
Martin blessed next year's International Eucharistic Bell, which was
then transported to Armagh, the See of St Patrick.
Welcoming the arrival of the Bell in Armagh last night, Cardinal Sean Brady, Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland,
said he was conscious that some commentators had said this year was not
a good time for Ireland to have a Eucharistic Congress.
But he
added that he hoped Irish Catholics would have confidence in themselves
and "all that is best in our church and in our country".
