Bishop opens new St Columba's church in west Belfast

A new church in west Belfast was dedicated last night by the Church of Ireland Bishop of Down and Dromore Dr Harold Miller.

St Columba's, which was erected on the site of a former church bearing the same name, has been built beside a 64-bed nursing home.

The new multi-purpose church will have a large groundfloor hall, and a first-floor cafe. Its minister, Rev Dr Chris Easton, said: “This is a new approach to try to rejuvenate a church, and to re-establish a worshipping community.”
