The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association (PTAA) recently launched its 2010 Let's Pray Together Christmas
message where it called on people to make Christmas a time to reflect
on the tough economic crisis which is afflicting the country.
The PTAA's Christmas message is being offered to people as a way of
bringing solidarity, support , understanding and hope, to those who may
be struggling with worsening financial, social and emotional worries as a
result of the deepening economic crisis.
The Association is also appealing to people to use prayer as a way of
finding some breathing space in the deepening economic tensions.
In a statement this week, Pioneer CEO Padraig Brady (pictured) said,
“When people experience anxiety as a result of economic hardship they
can become isolated from each other and their communities. All around
the country, during both Advent and Christmas, events will be run which
might offer people the opportunity to feel less alone in the current
economic climate.”
Speaking directly about the 2010 economic difficulties which are
affecting many families throughout the country he encouraged people to
attend the Christmas ceremonies as a way of showing solidarity to each
other.
He said, “This year in particular I would encourage as many
people as possible to attend both the Advent and Christmas ceremonies as
a way of reaching out to and support one another.”
