Count Me Out suspends service

The organisation Count Me Out, which simplified the process for Catholics who wish to leave the Church, has suspended its service.

It said the suspension is temporary to allow for clarification of Canon Law governing defections, which changed earlier this year.

So far, 12,000 people have downloaded the necessary form from the Count Me Out website but the organisation does not know how many of these have followed through.

Count Me Out's Paul Dunbar said the move to change the process was not targeted at their organisation but was part of wider changes by the Church.
