Irish language version of the Bible now available

An Irish language version of the bible is now available on the internet free of charge.

Known as Bíobla Naofa it can be downloaded for use with dedicated bible software, viewed online in PDF format or even downlaoded for viewing on a mobile phone at www.anbioblanaofa.org.

With the permission of the publishers, Colin Glen Christian Fellowship has converted the existing CD-ROM contents into Bible a digital format.

Speaking this week project Leader John Duffy said, "The Bible has been a source of inspiration and faith in Ireland from the era of Celtic Christianity up to the present day.

He added, “While it has only been available in print in the Irish language in recent centuries , the release of An Bíobla Naofa on the internet is a significant step forward in making God's Word more widely accessible in the Irish language.”

Moreover he claimed that, “sincere credit must go to the publisher An Sagart for permission to allow An Bíobla Naofa to be distributed free of charge.

Monsignor Pádraig Ó'Fiannachta has generously facilitated this out of a desire to see the Bible in Irish made as freely available as possible.
