POPE'S REJECTION OF RESIGNATIONS IS VINDICATION OF BISHOP DRENNAN

The refusal of the Pope to accept the resignations of two Bishops mentioned in the Murphy Report could be seen as vindication of Bishop of Galway Martin Drennan's refusal to resign earlier this year.

That's according to the editor of the Irish Catholic Garry O'Sullivan.

Bishops Raymond Field and Eamonn Walsh stood down on Christmas Eve after the publication of the Murphy report which exposed a 'litany of abuse' in the Dublin archdiocese.

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin has said both men will now have revised responsibilities.
