Diocesan Appointments 2010 - Meath

Bishop Michael Smith has announced the following clerical appointments taking effect on Friday 03 September 2010

* Fr. Gerard Stanley, P.P., Rathkenny is retiring

* Fr. Martin Carley, C.C., St. Mary’s, Drogheda is appointed Parish Priest of Rahan in succession to the late Fr. Seamus Dunican

* Fr. Stan Deegan, P.P., Rochfortbridge is taking sabbatical studies at the Tantur Centre in Jerusalem

* Fr. William Coleman, C.C., St. Mary’s, Navan is appointed Parish Priest of Rochfortbridge

* Fr. John Hogan, C.C., St. Mary’s, Drogheda is appointed Adm. of Rathkenny

* Fr. Brendan Ferris, C.C. Tyrrellspass is appointed C.C. Ratoath

* Fr. Barry Condron, C.C. Dunshaughlin is appointed C.C. Tyrrellspass

* Fr. Colm Browne, C.C. Mullingar is appointed C.C. Dunshaughlin

* Fr. Padraig Corcoran, C.C. Tullamore is appointed C.C. Mullingar

* Fr. Patrick Donnelly, C.C. Ratoath is appointed C.C. Tullamore

* Fr. Joseph Campbell, recently ordained, is appointed C.C. St. Mary’s, Drogheda

Biographical Notes

A native of Mullingar, Fr. Gerry Stanley was ordained in Maynooth in 1960. He spent six years ministering with the Columban Fathers on their mission in Lima, Peru. On his return to the Diocese, he served in Ratoath, Rochfortbridge and Kilcloon before his appointment as Parish Priest of Rathkenny in 1988.

Fr. Martin Carley was ordained in Milltownpass, following his studies at Maynooth, in 1992. He served as curate in Slane before moving to St. Mary’s, Drogheda in 2002.

Having worked for a number of years in the Department of Social Welfare, Fr. William Coleman was ordained in 1995, following studies at the Pontifical Irish College. He has ministered in Navan since his ordination.

Fr. John Hogan was ordained in Clara in 2003, having spent several years teaching and following his studies at Maynooth and the Pontifical Irish College. He has ministered in Drogheda since his ordination.
