Pope extends greetings to the new Bishop

At the Investiture of Bundoran-native Liam McDaid as the newly ordained Bishop of Clogher, Mons. Joseph McGuinness read out a short message from Pope Benedict to the newly appointed Bishop. “I wish to extend my warm greetings to our brother, Liam.

“Today you will take on many new responsibilities and will be responsible for spreading the seed of the church in your Diocese and wherever you travel.

“We see you as the proper person to take on this task - your colleagues have chosen you and on that advice we are please to appoint you as the Bishop of Clogher with all the responsibilities of the office.

“We extend our friendship to you in the knowledge that you will have the help from above.

"God has appointed you, Christ has established you and the Spirit has guaranteed you.”
