Children's books for Pope Benedict's visit

Why does the Pope wear white?

Why does the Pope choose a new name?

Why does the Pope carry a big cross and wear a funny hat?

These are just some of the questions answered in a delightful new book, illustrated with photographs, published by CTS Children's Books this month.

Another attractive new title is: Friendship with Jesus - Pope Benedict XVI speaks to children on their First Holy Communion.

With text edited by Amy Welborn, and beautiful illustrations by Ann Kissane Englehart, the story is based on a visit made a group of children and their families recently to the Holy Father and the conversations they had.

They ask him about his own childhood and they discuss prayer, the meaning of the Eucharist and Adoration.

What is particularly endearing about both titles is the authenticity of the language. The children ask very forthright and sensible questions and are given very thoughtful, wise answers.

Both books would be ideal as presents or RE resources this year, in the run-up to Pope Benedict's visit in September.
