Bishop Willie Walsh belives a successor will be appointed

Willie Walsh doesn't believe he will be the last Bishop of Killaloe as suggestions are made that the Diocese of Killaloe could be amalgamated with Limerick.

Speaking to Clare FM Dr Walsh says a restructuring of the Irish Catholic Church was discussed briefly at Rome but doesn't believe a reduction of dioceses is likely any time soon.

It comes after reports this week suggested that the number of dioceses could be cut to 12 with Killaloe merged with Limerick and Cashel and an archbishop residing in Limerick.

However Bishop Willie doesn't see that happening in the near future
