Catholic Schools Week to celebrate heritage

Catholic schools are being encouraged to celebrate their contribution to Irish society with a dedicated week celebrating the heritage of Catholic education.

Catholic Schools Week is organised by a joint steering committee of IEC and CORI, and it will take place from January 28 to February 6 this year, with the theme 'Catholic schools - a light for every generation'.

Grandparents

For the first time, grandparents are being asked to participate in Catholic Schools Week in conjunction with the National Grandparents Pilgrimage and February 3 is being designated as 'Grandparents Day' in the hope that all schools will invite grandparents to come to school with their grandchildren and participate in some of the activities.

The events scheduled for the week will take place in schools, in parishes, at diocesan and at national level.

A Resource Pack will be provided to all schools, Boards of Management and priests, and parishes are being asked to plan for a mass for January 31.
