Heart-warming win for priest

A PRIEST who was undergoing heart surgery in hospital got just what the doctor ordered yesterday when he hit the jackpot in his local GAA lottery.

Father Sean Slattery, from Ballymacward in Co Galway, did not win millions, but he got the good fortune he needed.

His windfall of €14,625 was the perfect boost as he recovered in hospital having had stents inserted for a heart problem.

"It was a great tonic and the perfect boost," he said after winning the Padraig Pearses GAA lotto.

Fr Slattery, an uncle of former Rose of Tralee winner Muireann Hurley, is renowned for his work with homeless people in London and recently celebrated his diamond jubilee.
