Archbishop Pilarczyk Turns In Resignation

The man who has led the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for 27 years is leaving his post soon.

Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk says he has submitted his resignation to Pope Benedict XVI, just days before his 75th birthday.

A Dayton native, Archbishop Pilarczyk has served as the bishop of a diocese longer than any other bishop in the country.

He will be succeeded by 61-year-old Dennis Schnurr, who last October was appointed coadjutor archbishop of Cincinnati.
