Yushchenko: Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church ‘became the nation's support at the darkest hour’

President Viktor Yushchenko has described the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church as the Ukrainian nation's support.

Yushchenko was during a liturgy at the pilgrimage center of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church in the Ternopil region.

“It is with huge respect that I am speaking today about the feats of the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church, its clergy, priests, and all believers. It became the nation's support at the darkest hour and has continued this mission until now,” Yushchenko said.

He thanked the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church's head Liubomyr Huzar for his contribution to the spirituality of the Ukrainian people and for continuing the traditions of the church.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Yushchenko has said that he believes that Ukrainian Orthodox churches will unite to form a single Ukrainian church.
