Vatican appreciates relations with Ukraine

On Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko's order, deputy head of his Secretariat Yuriy Bohutskyi has met with Giovanni Lajolo, Cardinal President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State, who came to Ukraine at the invitation of the Ukrainian Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic churches, the presidential press service reported.

Lajolo spoke highly about the results of Yushchenko's recent official visit to the Vatican, including his meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, and expressed satisfaction with the situation in the Ukraine - Vatican relations.

The parties discussed the current public and religious situation in Ukraine, and the state - church relation development perspectives.
