Sacramento Jesuit High teachers allege sexual harassment

Attorneys for Sacramento Jesuit High School teachers Andrea Luviano and Maria Pozsar are alleging that they were summarily terminated by the school after complaining about sexual harassment.

Luviano taught Spanish for nine years before being summarily fired the same day as veteran French teacher and department chair Maria Pozsar, News10 reports.

Luviano said she was reluctant to speak out before now, mostly out of shame and embarrassment.

"The first thing that comes to people's mind when somebody gets fired is that person must have done something bad," she said.

Luviano said there were never any complaints about her performance and her firing came as a complete surprise.

Both Luviano and Pozsar have been instructed by their attorney, Gloria Allred, not speak in detail about the case. Allred said she had nothing to add to her earlier statement that she believes the teachers were fired after complaining about sexual harassment at Jesuit.

Jesuit High School offered a written statement about the firings.

"As you know, conclusions drawn without full factual information are often faulty; there are always two sides to every story," Jesuit High School said in a statement.

"In the spirit of St Ignatius we teach our students to presume the good about others, and we ask that you also presume the good about Jesuit High School in this matter."
