Sinead: No regrets over Pope row

Singer Sinead O'Connor has told how she's proud of herself for tearing apart a photograph of Pope John Paul II as a protest.

The Irish singer - whose career was nearly derailed by the scandal in 1992 - said: "I don't regret it, not even for a second. I am proud of it because I tried to give my view as an artist."

But O'Connor - talking in Belgrade before concerts in Serbia - told Vecernje Novosti newspaper she has no plans to take on the new pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI.

"Once was enough," she said.
