Clerical Rumblings....

Well, it seems that there was a little upheaval in the Redemptorists in Limerick on Good Friday when the Crucifix reached the altar.

It seems there was a slight clerical altercation between 2 of the clergy as to whom would take charge of the Crucifix...all in full view of the congregation and resulted in much astonishment and scandal amongst them.

But it didn't finish there....when it came to the moment for the congregation to step forward to kiss the base of the Crucifix, they were advised from the pulpit that there were sanitary towels available to them to ensure the base would be clean and hygienic for their placing of their lips thereupon!!!

There is no more that can be said at this juncture in relation to the above....

...still down the Shannon way, there are some unhappy rumblings in the Benedictine fraternity over the recent appointment of Br Martin BROWNE as head of the school in Glenstal.

Word reached these ears whilst in the USA, and in San Diego to be precise, and to say that it has caused some serious reservations, consternation and some rather uncouth questioning of the wisdom of such a move and appointment would be certainly considered an understatement of great proportions!!

Br Browne was described as being rather a 'snooty little shit', 'condescending', arrogant', jumped up snipe' et al and certainly in USA they seem rather glad that he is not over there as he certainly would not have made the position he seems 'destined' to hold.

Maybe his attitude, behaviour and interaction towards others is best summarised in the words of an ex-student of Glenstal Abbey -

"What a choirmaster! But perhaps the ability to laugh at yourself as much as you do at others would be nice."

...and finally, we take a little spin over the borders of Limerick into the county of Clare where we have been told that a certain Canon who would have been in charge of organising trips and pilgrimages abroad seems to have been helping himself to a few pilgrimages of his own...and her name is not Lourdes...surely she had a more local name but when in the Costa, who cares about a name!!!

Don't forget to tune in next week when we have an CW Exclusive on that Irish Bishops Conference Agency and name names which will certainly leave (perhaps) heads rolling and raise some questions which should have been done some time ago....roll on next week!!!
