Northern Ireland - Lest We Forget (1969 - 2009)

My dear friends, we here in Ireland are facing yet again another period of time whereby peace hangs in the balance.

This has been brought about due to the contempt that certain persons show towards the democratic right of ALL people on this isle of Saints, Scholars and indeed Sinners, to live and work in peace.

In the weekend just gone (7th - 9th March 2009), we have witnessed the unnecessary and non-justifiable deaths of 3 people doing their jobs, and the injuring of others also going about their work.

The families of Patrick Azimkar (21), Mark Quinsey (23) and Stephen Paul Carroll (48) have been left to cope with what can only be best described as pure sheer and absolute horror, anger and incredulity.

We here in CW, and no doubt with all of you bloggies, offer them our sincerest condolences and prayers at this time.

If there is anything else that can be done, we certainly stand willing to do so.

Over the next few days, we will publish the names of every person from 1969 to the present, which we earnestly pray shall remain the last, and ask you all to pray for the deceased and their families left behind.

Today, we begin with those of 1969 when it all began, and ask you to reflect just a moment and say a prayer.

In these uncertain times, that is the least we can do.
