Cardinal Séan Brady has said he believes Bishop John Magee should not resign over his handling of clerical child sexual abuse allegations in the Diocese of Cloyne. Cardinal Brady accepted there had been serious failures in Cloyne, but he said Bishop Magee had learned a painful lesson and was determined to put in place proper procedures for dealing with abuse victims.
He said Bishop Magee would do everything in his power to ensure that clerical sexual abuse did not happen in his diocese again.
