Pope Authorises Cause of Saints to promulgate Decrees

On Saturday Pope Benedict met with Archbishop Angelo Amato Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Cause of Saints.

During the audience the Holy Father authorised the promulgation of 9 decrees, 6 attributing miracles and three attributing heroic virtues.

A miracle was attributed to the intercession of Blessed Sigismondo Felice Felinski, 19th century Archbishop of Warsaw, born in Volinia, then Polish and now Ukrainian territory, founder of the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of the Family of Mary for the assistance of the poor.

A miracle was also attributed to Blessed RAFFAELE ARNÁIZ BARÓN, Oblate brother of the Trappist order who died at the age of 27 in Saint Isadora monastery Spain in 1938.

Sickness, war, inability to pronounce his vows, did not bow young Raffaele, who totally renounced himself, his self-will to God, leading to his being proclaimed a model for the youth of today by Pope John Paul II.

Heroic Virtues were attributed to a Dutch professed brother of the religious order of Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy, the Servant of God ANDREA VAN DEN BOER who died in Tilburg Holland on August 3rd 1917.

Other decrees concern two Italian blessed CATERINA VOLPICELLI and GIACINTO BIANCHI, a French blessed MARIA DELLA CROCE JUGAN and the Servant of God, Italian priest GIACINTO BIANCHI.
