Diocesan Clerical Appointments 2008 - Waterford & Lismore

The diocese of Waterford and Lismore has made a number of changes in clerical appointments throughout the county, as it tries to deal with the ongoing fall in vocations.

The changes follow a number of retirements in the diocese and are a further indication of the effects of the fall off in vocations here, where a new priest hasn't been ordained since 2001.

New parish priests include

Father Patrick Cooney in Saint Joseph and Benildus,

Father Martin Keogh in Newtown, Kilmacthomas,

Father Patrick Condon in Knockanore,

Father Conor Kelly in Ring and Old Parish,

Father Garret Desmond in Newcastle and Fourmilewater,

Father Brendan Crowley in Saint Peters and Pauls in Clonmel,

Father Edmond Cullinan in Carrick on Suir and

Father Gerard McNamara who will take over both Ballyduff Upper and Tallow.

New curate appointments include Father Colm O'Brien in Tramore,

Father Robert Grant in Saint John's

and Father Patrick Hayes in Saint Marys Clonmel.

Father Raymond Liddane in Saint Joseph and Benildus,

Father Michael Farrell in Tallow and Father Nicholas Power in Saint Peters and Pauls in Clonmel have retired but will remain on as assistant priests.

The changes came into effect on the 18th of July 2008.
