Pope's apology is not enough say victims

The victims of paedophile priests in Australia say an apology from the Pope isn't enough.

At a mass in Sydney, Benedict XVI said he was deeply sorry for the pain and suffering the victims have endured, and added that those responsible for "these evils" must be brought to justice.

The Pope previously expressed regret on a visit to the United States earlier this year, but the wording of his Australia speech was much stronger.

Anthony Foster's two daughters were raped by a priest when they were children - one later committed suicide.

Speaking after the Pope's address Mr Foster said that the pontiff had not gone far enough.

"He didn't tackle the issues that we are very concerned about, and that's him taking direct responsibility to ensure that all the arch-dioceses provide practical, unlimited help to the victims of the Catholic Church," Mr Foster said.
