Polish priest closing think-tank

Poland's Rzeczpospolita newspaper reports that the controversial former Solidarity chaplain, Msgr. Henryk Jankowski, has announced the closing of a think tank that he opened in March 2007.

The Msgr. Henryk Jankowski Institute was dedicated to documenting the role of the Catholic Church in Poland under Poland’s former Communist regime.

The Institute’s grand opening was attended by former deputy prime minister Andrzej Lepper, among other leading political figures.

The Institute has published several books to date.

Msgr. Jankowski said that the main reasons for the liquidation of his think tank were financial.
