Diocese of Killaloe Unease

The Diocese of Killaloe, via its current episcopal incumbent, has been dragged into the courtroom again, and has managed to cause a lot of unease for many of its faithful.

Bishop Wishy Washy Walsh decided to go and give a character reference for a young traveller man who murdered his own brother in January 2007. The bishop then permitted this man and his family some space on his front lawn where they could park up until such time as the case went to court and adjudicated upon.

Yet again, the bishop went and done all this without consulting anyone...but please do not get me wrong on this...compassion is the essential character of a priest but so too is consideration of all others.

This is not the 1st time the bishop has visited the sacred hallows of the courtroom having had to answer for a speeding offence a few years ago whilst en route to an Episcopal conference in the Purple Parliament that is Maynooth College.

He also managed to interfere in the workings of An Garda Síochána resulting in the loss of a job of a high ranking officer to which the bishop later admitted his involvement (Scarriff should be a memory jogger for Your Grace who it is known reads this blogspot) and also has prevailed upon the law in other rather questionable actions in relation to certain clergy in recent times.

If only he would now turn his attention to his diocese and begin to deal with the discontent of both clergy and faithful alike in relation to his unnecessary interference yet again into matters of which he has no jurisdiction and yet managed to get 3 years deducted from the sentence the judge was going to hand down.

Any TD who dared to now interfere in such a manner would very quickly find themselves on an electoral hiding to nothing but yet Your Grace will feel he can walk away unscathed by this...but be warned bishop...there are many people out there who made contact with me here and their words are anything but supportive of your actions.

Indeed, one particular comment raised does bear reflection...and I refer to a piece I posted here some time ago in relation to the death of a young man, Michael Doherty (a settled Traveller), at the hands of the son of an Ennis based Garda.

The young man, now 18, is none other than a previous weapon carrier by the name of McGovern, has had his case pencilled to begin next Spring (2009) in Ennis after a Judge decided it should be held there and not in Dublin as so requested by the Gardaí.

Will Bishop Wishy Washy now also go to court for McGovern seeing as he is well in there with the Gardaí who are but a stones throw from his Episcopal pile known as Westbourne and no doubt a red phone call away in emergency...no doubt he will do something as he just cannot seem to keep his fingers out of such non-ecclesiastical matters...but then again he may have more reason to be in with the Gardaí as fall out with them...

...still a few cases of alleged Child Sex Abuse unresolved in the Diocese and God knows, the assistance of holding the carpet whilst such are swept under it is always welcome from the lads and lassies in blue especially if they have also failed to investigate and/or prosecute properly.

Focus on your Diocese Your Grace, and sure while you are reading this, a note to your webmaster - your site needs serious overhaul and update since 12th April 2008...the red phone to the Garda Station must be blocking the dialup service yet again...
