Cardinal Urosa rejects the Reformed Catholic Church

Caracas Archbishop, Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, rejected the creation of the Reformed Catholic Church in Venezuela, whose representatives were introduced last week as in line with the Bolivarian socialism of President Hugo Chávez.

Urosa branded the group as "an irregular association."

He described the Reformed Catholic Church as a mess, "because it comprises Lutherans, different Christians, and some Catholic priests who were in a poor canonical position," Urosa warned on Sunday.

"This cannot be deemed a Church, as the Catholic priests who took part in the organization of this new association are actually schismatic and therefore they are excommunicated."

"There is one single Church and one single faith, namely the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, which is conveyed by the holy Catholic Church," he added.
