A niece of Madrid's Cardinal Antonio Maria Ruoco Varela has appeared nude in a Spanish magazine. Magdalena Ruoco, who is 26 years old, appears topless in Interviu a magazine that regularly features nude or semi-nude photos of celebrities.
Her photo appears above the headline: "I want to expose my uncle's hypocrisy."
Cardinal Ruoco Varela, who is regarded as one of the more conservative members of the Spanish hierarchy, was elected in March as president of the country's episcopal conference.
Thus he is a central figure in the conflicts between the nation's hierarchy and the Socialist political leadership.
