Polish Catholics seek restoration of Epiphany holiday

The general secretary of the Polish Bishops Conference, Bishop Stanislaw Budzik, met with the mayor of Lodz, Poland, Jerzy Kropiwncki to discuss a citizens’ initiative to have the Feast of the Epiphany declared a national holiday.

Kropiwnicki has presented the speaker of Poland’s parliament with a petition signed by 3,000 Polish citizens who support the project.

Poland’s bishops support the proclamation of the feast of the Epiphany as a national holiday, an honor enjoyed until its removal by the former Communist regime in 1960.

The Feast of the Epiphany is the only holy day of obligation in Poland that is not also a national holiday. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
