Gay Anglican bishop will not attend Lambeth conference

Episcopalian Bishop Gene Robinson, the active homosexual whose installation as head of the New Hampshire diocese has threatened to break apart the Anglican communion, has announced that he will not attend the Lambeth Conference this summer.

Bishop Robinson revealed that he had declined an invitation to participate in the worldwide gathering of Anglican leaders.

His presence at the Lambeth Conference might have triggered a negative response from Anglican leaders who oppose the acceptance of homosexual activities.

A number of African prelates had already announced that they would boycott the Lambeth Conference to protest the inclusion of prelates who reject the moral authority of Biblical teaching and Christian tradition.

"I am dismayed and sick-hearted that we can't sit around a table, as brothers in sisters in Christ, and study Scripture together," Bishop Robinson said.

He encouraged sympathetic Anglicans to participate in the Lambeth Conference and uphold the rights of homosexuals.
