Yakima Diocese Sex Abuse Case Settled

Four woman say they were sexually abused in their Catholic church in Toppenish over forty years ago. The allegations led to a major sexual abuse lawsuit against the Catholic Diocese of Yakima.

The settlement involves four women who claim they were abused by Father Michael Simpson back in the 1960's at Saint Aloysius Parish in Toppenish.

Originally, four lawsuits were filed against the Catholic Diocese of Yakima, but back on December 28th, the Yakima County Superior Court dismissed those lawsuits.

The diocese denies liability for each of the four sex abuse suits and instead settled on a lump-sum payment of $200,000 to be split between the four woman and their attorneys. We're told each alleged victim will receive just over $25,000.
