Brady will lead Irish tour of the Holy Land

Cardinal Sean Brady, the Catholic Primate, is leading an Irish delegation as part of a group visit to the Holy Land to meet local church leaders and politicians.

The group, which includes European and North American bishops, is meeting the Apostolic Delegate to the Holy Land Archbishop Antonio Franco, as well as the British ambassador to Israel Tom Philips and Richard Makepeace, the British consul-general in Jerusalem.

Cardinal Brady and his colleagues are also making pastoral visits to local parishes, including Bethlehem, and are meeting politicians and community leaders as well as staff and students at Bethlehem University.

The delegates, who include Bishop Raymond Field from Dublin, Cardinal George Omi from Chicago and Archbishop Patrick Kelly from Liverpool are part of an international Catholic group which was established in Jerusalem two decades ago by the Vatican.
