World Youth Day looking for actor to play Jesus

An open casting call to find Australia’s Jim Caviezel is taking place next month, in a bid to find actors to play roles that include Mary and Pontius Pilate.

The actors will be performing a pivotal portrayal at World Youth Day next year – which is set to attract to 500,000 people to its major events.

The week of activities will take place from 15 – 20 July 2008.

Many other roles including Pontius Pilate, Simon of Cyrene, the 12 Apostles, Roman Soldiers, religious authorities as well as a crew of extras will also need filling.

The Stations of the Cross will be telecast live to the world on Friday 18 July 2008 from major Sydney CBD locations.
