Pius Ncube At It Again

THE head of the Roman Catholic Church in Bulawayo, Archbishop Pius Ncube, yesterday threatened to close all Catholic schools if the Government goes ahead and introduces a new fee structure.

The disgraced cleric made the threats when he addressed a low-key meeting at Nkulumane Hall in Bulawayo organised by a little-known anti-Government pressure group - Ibhetshu Likazulu.

His public stunt was dismissed by some residents of Nkulumane as a bid to divert attention from the scandalous lawsuit that has shattered his moral standing as a high-ranking clergyman.

"If the insensitive Government slashes fees as they are threatening to do, we will close our schools (Catholic). I will make sure that happens," he said.

"Price controls are a good thing if done in a moderate manner, but if it is extreme and justified by lies as is the case in Zimbabwe, then we should resist them."
