Benedict XVI thanked a group of Seattle firefighters, in Lorenzago di Cadore to assist local forest rangers during the Pope's stay in the region.
The Pope was on his way to Mirabello Castle on Sunday when he stopped today at the Church of Our Lady of Defense, on the outskirts of Lorenzago di Cadore.
The Holy Father thanked the four firefighters, gathered in front of the Church with their families, for their service and gave them his blessing.
Their time in Italy will be spent in assisting forest rangers in fire prevention.
